If you’re heading east on a Barking train, do yourself a favour and change at East Ham. District Line trains leave from same platform, for stations beyond Barking.

If heading westbound on the Hammersmith & City Line and you're not pressed for time, travel one stop eastbound to Barking first, then head west and bag yourself a near-guaranteed seat for the journey

If you are waiting for a Hammersmith and city line , It may be quicker if you get into a district line train and then change at Aldgate East.You don't have to change platforms at Aldgate east.
