Impressive ruins of a 12th century castle. Only the tower survives following the dismantling of the fortress following the civil war. Run by English Heritage.

A nice way to spend a couple of hours - as well as the ruins of the castle, there's a small museum, a visitor centre and gift shop, plus lovely views across the surrounding countryside.
