Originally built as a fort to protect the city in the 1500s, La Fortaleza is now where the island's governor lives. It's a Unesco World Heritage site and visitors can tour the grounds.

Check in the yellow building on Calle Fortaleza for information and passes for tours. You'll need an ID to get a pass. There a nice air conditioned waiting room!

Historic mansion at the end of a stunning blue cobblestone street lined with colorful buildings and spanish balconies. It's good to be Governor.

Place is so windy. Ladies wear a pony tail, maybe a hat. Do not wear wedges/heels, the walkways are stone and brick.

Don't try to hop the fence; the guards are intimidating. Beautiful building though!
