You need to take an elevator to get to the street level / to get to the 1 train. Luckily there are 4 huge elevators. They just look a bit sketchy & take a long time.

Summertime only: the train station on the lower level is extremely hot! It's very uncomfortable to be stuck down her with so much people and this heat!

Elevators take for ever. Always crowded..there should be stairs. It's a fire hazard no emergency exit!

This train station stinks. Take the A to 181st instead.

Actually the deepest station is in the system is one away at 191st street on (1). 181 is not as deep.

Hellish station resides deeper beneath the ground than any other in NYC, 17 stories. Horribly hot.

you have to take the elevators to get downstairs and they are sketchy
